Before I begin the actual post... some trivia to explain the post title: IKEA is actually an acronym for Ingvar Kamprad Elmtaryd Agunnaryd. I found this out while trying to locate a definition for the word IKEA (to see if it was useful at all). If you have any interest in knowing more about IKEA or Ingvar Kamprad (the man behind IKEA) or Elmtaryd (the farm where he grew up) or Agunnaryd (his home village) please click over to the wikipedia site. Who knew you could ever find so much information about a store???
Anyway... back to the real post.
We love IKEA. The majority of our house is furnished with items from IKEA. On top of being furniture with a look we like... it wasn't going to break the bank in order to furnish whole rooms.
The place we spend most of our time... the couch in our tv/family room.

Our entire dining room.

All of the furniture in our living room.

This comfy chair in our guest room.

And well... just about everything else in our guest room, too (bed, frames, pictures, shelf).
I could keep snapping pictures of random pieces of IKEA furniture from our home... but I think you get the idea. We just really like IKEA.Unfortunately, after a few years of being married, our whole house was furnished in a way we were pretty happy with. I say unfortunately because we kind of lost our reason to go to IKEA. Once your house is furnished why would you go to a furniture store? (Umm... we actually did still find reasons***)
Well... now we have Zoe. And... on top of having an atmosphere similar to an amusement park, IKEA has cool kids items. We just took Zoe a couple weekends ago and we are just in love with our purchases.
We got her this great little table and chair set for $20.

This train set was $12.
And, this tent (that folds up to the size of a large umbrella) was $14 (I think).
Yes... the whole family just loves IKEA!!!
***Before having Zoe... we used to use napkins as an excuse for a run to IKEA. We'd ues our last napkins and say "Oh, we have to go to IKEA!!!" What can I say, we really like IKEA napkins. haha
***And if napkins weren't a good enough reason... there were always meatballs!!! Yummy Swedish meatballs.

I love IKEA too! Only I hardly ever go anymore. That train set looked pretty fun, I may have to go get that.
BTW, I love the colors in your guest room! Beautiful!
IKEA lover alert! I'm just gaga over it too! It's awesome, especially the kids stuff!
We love IKEA to so looks like its a worldwide thing, about 75% or our house is decorated from IKEA. We so need an excuse to go soon, i love there kids cutlery and plate sets but cannot justify going that far for small stuff (about an hours drive, my sister suggested getting the bus - sure with two small kids , double buggy and couple hour bus run?)
I knew I loved you, Colleen! It is where a lot of our furniture has been purchased as well. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their stuff! It rocks.
Em is big enough to go into the SmalLand (A. almost is!) and she loves visiting it. Then I just take A. up and let her "play" in the kids furniture area. It is a win for everyone.
Plus their picture frames! That alone is worth the trip. And with the amount of pics I have, and give away, they make it worth the trip!
I am loving that big comfy chair and Zoe looks soooo cute in her little tent.
Also, I tagged you for a meme on my blog.
I want IKEA.
Too funny that you posted this now...as I was just at IKEA a couple days ago! There's only one in our area about an hour and a half away, so a bunch of us made a day of it. So much fun! I love that place, and when we're ready to buy new furniture that's where we'll go!! Nadia got the cutest little mask there, I'll have to post the pics.
IKEA has recently opened here in Adelaide just in time for me to have NO money to spend there!!!! :-(
When I lived in the UK it was a weekend treat to go out to IKEA with friends. I know, we need to get lives ! Himself of course, being a bloke...hates it. He hates that he can't get OUT when he wants to :-)
Your house looks lovely by the way.
My mom sends us IKEA stuff all the time, snif sniff, I've never been in one yet. I understand there is one in Connecticut, we may make a pilgrimage sometime.
I really have to get myself to IKEA more often. I hardly ever go and I work all of 5 min from the one in Paramus. I fear though, that if I do go more often - whoops. There goes my paycheck!
I'm so sad-there isn't an IKEA store near me, and I have never been. I know, it's pathetic!!! I love the pics though, and I like the style. I will have to encourage my husband to take me to Chicago to check out the store there. He loves to go shopping more than I do, so I think it will be an easy sell. I will let you know how it goes! :) Nice house, btw....donna g
We have an IKEA store about 15 minutes from us and have never been there, but for those deals I might be enticed to go! I know my mom really wants to go, maybe we can make it a girl trip! Thanks for sharing your pictures...IKEA has nicely furnished your house. :)
Great site. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to some friends!
