I've been trying to finish posting my cruise vacation photos.
I uploaded the first 3 photos of Dominica (not the Dominican Republic) and suddenly the uploader started telling me "server regected". I've tried on 3 separate days now... thinking I hit a glitch... and no luck.
Big red highlighted "server rejected".
I've been trying to research on the help forums what my issue could be and I'm suddenly (after 3 1/2 years of blogging) finding out that the number of photos you are allowed to upload is dependent on your storage availability on Picasa (since Blogger auto stores your blog photos there). Looks like I'm at 99.9% full capacity. Hmmm.... I never even checked that before.
So... now... what do I do??? Start paying an annual free to keep uploading and storing more photos?
Do I have other options?
Blog with no photos? (ACK!!!)
Suggestions please. I'm panicking.

I use a TON of pictures-I have to be close to using too many. :)
I was able to find my "blog albums" by going to google.com and signing in. Under the tab that says "more" there is a link for "photos". On the very bottom of the page that has the albums mine says

phew! I am relieved that I only have 24%. I used to use photobucket. I had several accounts but even then would exceed my bandwidth. I then started just using blogger to load my pics. I now only use photobucket for buttons, but still exceed bandwidth so I had to buy a monthly plan.

I use flickr and have never had a problem (that I know of) -- I upload my photos there and then pick the size that I want to post to my blog. I think that if you have a free photo account you can upload 200 photos - although after that it doesn't erase them, you just can't access them to post/download. The price for a pro membership is pretty reasonable though - 24.95 per year for unlimited storage. It makes for a great back up too, since you can download original sized files if anything ever happens to your hard drive or back up.
I do have a pro flickr account (I won a year membership). But... I was just uploading directly from my computer. Blogger automatically puts them to picasa (I never did) in a private album. Actually there are about 6 albums. It's now just forcing me into either buying the additional annual space on picasa.... or adding and extra step of uploading to flickr before I upload to the blog.
The worst part is just having this come up unexpectedly.
I wonder... if you upload from flickr instead of directly from your computer... does it STILL put those photo files into picasa?
I upload to flickr and blog from there...there are a LOT of photos on my blog and I've never gotten that notice, so I think they are stored remotely and it gives you limitless photo space!
I use Flickr too. It is an extra step, and it's annoying at times, but I think as long as you pay the $24.95/year, your pictures are there for the long haul.
There is no limit on what you can store in a pro account -- I have over 15,000 stored already. It actually doesn't take too long once you get into the habit of posting the photos from flickr -- and you can select the size you want, so it's nice to have options :) The biggest thing was getting into the habit of uploading them in the first place. But if you sort and tag things in lightroom, those things will upload to flicker and save time so you don't have to retag anything. I'm not sure that it uploads to picasa from flickr though...
Colleeen, I did the same thing as you. ;-) $5 a year, and I have room for a kazillion pics? Sign me up!
I do have the pro flickr account (I was it during nablopomo... so I guess it's almost expired). I have to look into what the storage limit is on a pro account (is there a limit?) versus upgrading the picasa limit.
I just really don't upload much to flickr. Uploading to flickr and THEN to the blog would just add an extra step that I haven't been doing.
It's all just frustrating because you would think they would at least send a warning as you got close to the limit.
I was actually in the middle of doing a multiple picture upload... it allowed the first 3... and then started refusing the rest.
I was already at 99.99%full. SO annoying.
I ended up upgrading my Picasa storage. It was $5 a year for 20GB more (which they say should be something like 10,000 pictures. I have no idea. Some things leave me clueless.) I figure the $5 gives me time to decide what I want to do. And if I decide to update my Flickr instead then I've only lost $5.
I'm just sticking with using picasa and doing what I've been doing.
You really can't beat that $5 per year. It'll take me forever to fill that space too.... since it took me over 3 year to use the original space!
