Admitting Defeat... sort of

Last January I signed up for a challenge.

100 books in 2010.

Let me just say... I failed.  I didn't get anywhere near 100 books in 2010.

If you followed my Reading List you might know I read 31 books.

So... 31 books in 2010.

While that is a far cry from 100 books... it was at least a couple dozen more than I read in 2009.  31 books works out to about 2 1/2 books per month.  (Had I really done the math and realized I'd have to read about 2 books a week to get to 100 I would have toned down my challenge.)

So... I failed 100 books in 2010.  Oh well.

(Unless you count the Fluffy books  Zoe brought home EVERY SINGLE WEEK ON LIBRARY DAY... and the other random children's books I read aloud every day... then I totally rocked the 100 books.)

I'm making my own challenge this year though.  I would just like to read more books in 2011 than I read in 2010.  (I've read 4 books already this year!!!)

So... how about 32 books in 2011?  Anybody think they can do it?  Anybody want to outright say they can totally beat my 32?

I challenge you!

I think I read 5 books last year, so if I get to 10 I would be so happy. I just need to pace myself as I get into this I have to read this book all right now and so I don't do anything else except for read. So, I don't.

I have that problem too. I'll start reading and just want to read until I'm done. It definitely gave me lots of spots where I lacked in blog writing!

My goal for 2011 was to read 12 non-school related books...while I know that doesn't sound like much, it still seems like a pretty hefty goal... So far I have read 9! I am SHOCKED at how much easier to read it is on an iPad...and how much I like it! I am sure I will read 12 books this year...but I am pretty sure I can't beat your 31!

You've already read 9 books in 2011? That's impressive. You'll absolutely make your 12! Like I said... I've read 4 so far. Started 5 today.

I agree... SO much easier to read on the iPad or Kindle. You finish a book... you get another book to start 30 seconds later.

I accept the challenge. I'm on book 20 for 2011, but I do have so much more time on my hands than you. Somehow doesn't seem quite fair.... Love ya!

Yeah... I think you need to sign up for the 100 books in 2011 challenge (I'm sure there is one.)

100 books is way too much! I love to read, but I've always put this goal on myself.

There is 52ish weeks in a year, right?
I'll allow myself 1 book every 2 weeks-ish.

I try to shoot for 30 books a year.
Good books. Quality books.

Right now, I'm reading Bird By Bird, a writers book.

As long as you're working on a book, I think you're good. 100 is just too many. :)

I especially think 100 books is too much now that I've tried it.
You start to forget which book was which when you're reading too much and too fast.

I read a couple of "good, quality books" last year.
And more than a couple fluffy books that were good. Sometimes that's all my brain can take lately.
Before kids I read much more challenging reading.

I read fast and a lot and I think that 100 is kinda crazy. I can definitely beat 32, but 100...yikes. I don't know. So funny - I was just getting ready to write a post on all the books I'm loving on my Kindle!! I've read some great ones in the past month.

I go through phases. I'll read and read and read.... and then I won't look to read anything for a week or 2.
The Kindle is DEFINITELY helping me read more though.
Still love it.
