Grace in Small Things - 129
(The P&G edition)
1. Bounce Dryer Bar. I never have to worry about forgetting softener sheets.
2. Mr. Clean bathroom cleaner with Febreze. Honestly... to walk into the bathroom smelling Febreeze fresh smelling instead of bathroom antiseptic type cleaner smelling... it is a lovely thing.
3. Actually... Febreze anything. Fabric spray, air freshener spray, mixed with Mr. Clean. Febreze makes me happy.
4. Nyquil. I have a feeling it's going to be getting a lot of use in the near future for me.
5. NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara. I never would have thought I would add a mascara to my (almost) daily morning routine.

Today's Favorite Scan - Home Ec in the 40s
When my Aunt Prudy passed away I asked if I could have all of her photos to scan. My wish was granted... and boxes and boxes and boxes of photos (in and out of albums and frames) came to my house. Flipping through photos from as far back as the 1920s has been really quite enjoyable... and I think looking at the memories (some Aunt Pru's and some mine too) really has helped me to move through some of my grief.
Photos really are an amazing thing to me. Some are simple moments in time. A glimpse of what someone looked like at one time. Some tell whole stories. Some I only glance at for a split second... others I gaze at repeatedly.
I thought maybe I would share a scanned photo from my "Aunt Prudy file" once in a while... or more often. We'll see. For now...
I'm not sure what kept me looking at this photo... but it's a favorite scan from my "work" this morning.
This is my Pop George. (Pop George is my Mom's Dad... and Aunt Prudy's "baby brother".) We asked him if he worked at a soda shop or something. He said this is actually a photo that was taken in home economics class. It didn't have a year or anything written on the back (WRITE DATES ON YOUR PHOTOS PEOPLE!!!!!) but since he said it was home economics I'm going to guess it's probably around 1946ish (give or take a year or so).
I wonder what they made that day. I wonder if he cut his finger while he was cooking. I wonder if he always wore a tie to school. I wonder if the home economics classroom is in the same place then as it was when I was in high school and took home economics 1990.

Don't Fall!
Another sign we have nothing but big kids in our house.
We just took down the baby gate that was installed at the top of the stairs for 6 years.
I'm a little nervous that someone might fall down the stairs now.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I think it might actually be ME that falls down the stairs.
Everyone please cross your fingers that I don't randomly forget about the lack of gate safety.
Side note... I'm repairing plaster walls that were "damaged" by the installation/uninstallation of said baby gate (and the bottom of the stair gate that was removed months and months ago).
Please don't tell my dad I'm repairing my own walls.
Unless they come out really well... then you can all tell him what a GREAT job I've done.

Grace in Small Things - 127
1. The scholastic book fair.
2. A quick spur of the moment flu shot at the Target pharmacy. Easy. Done.
3. How a bottle of Disney Princess body wash is the "best thing EVER" to a 3 year old.
4. A glass of Fall Sangria (hints of apple pie and pumpkin spice... yum).
5. The fact that stink bugs no longer "scare" me... they just annoy me.

Really? That's why?
I'm cleaning up clutter... there is constant clutter.
As I'm picking up the TV room (again) I say out loud to myself "I just don't know why our house always looks like a disaster."
Zoe replies from the couch, very matter-of-factly "It's because you have 2 kids."
